I've been hearing buzz about Taylor Momsen (who plays cute little Jenny Humphrey on everybody's guilty pleasure, 'GG') fronting an original rock band for a long, long while now.
Her band, The Pretty Reckless (or The Reckless, depending on which circles you get your info from) is what she fronts. And their supposed debut single has been leaked onto YouTube. It might be called 'I Really F--king Love You'. Some people think it's okay and others think she's trying too hard.
On the other hand, I think it's a pretty incredible breath of fresh air. One - this girl is about 15? Yes, it's questionable that she sings about being 'pissed' and she's dropping the F-bomb in the chorus (and you know that's gonna get edited if she wants radio play), but this is most certainly NOT Disney music. Thank God.
She sounds like a baby Shirley Manson crossed over with a touch of Brody Dalle. Those are big comparisons for a new comer, yea. But as opposed to listening to Miley, you won't want to kick puppies once the song ends (and Miley, Selena and Demi probably don't even know WHO Garbage or The Distillers ARE; whereas Taylor says she listens to them and more).
Taylor's voice is rough like a chain-smoker's. And have you seen pictures of this girl out on the town? She already looks the part. True the lyrics aren't the most profound things in the world - but she's 15! And since when does every song in the world have to be earth-shatteringly deep and profound? Not to mention, it will get stuck in your head. Take it for what it is and you'll love it. I promise. It's not what you would expect.
No doubts here. I wouldn't be surprised if this makes the charts.
